Students from the Global Health Center of the University of Chicago, USA Call On Vice-Dean of International Programmes Office

Two students from the Global Health Center, University of Chicago, USA, Kayla Haile and Paige Evans called on Vice-Dean of the International Programmes Office, Prof. Esmeranda Manful, on June 22, 2023.

Following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between KNUST and the University of Chicago, the undergraduate students are at KNUST, School of Medicine and Dentistry, for a 3-month educational visit to observe firsthand public and global health research and training opportunities at KNUST under the mentorship of Prof. Daniel Ansong, Dean of School of Medicine and Dentistry.

The students presented an itinerary for their tour, which included activities such as an introduction to research methodology, GCP training and data collection tools and procedures, data analysis, sickle cell clinic, hematology etc.

On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor and Management of KNUST, Prof. Manful welcomed Kayla and Paige to KNUST. She expressed her excitement for the visit and commended the students on their decision to study in Ghana and at KNUST. Prof. Manful noted that KNUST campus is a security zone, with CCTV cameras strategically placed throughout the campus with a good security architecture to ensure their safety. She mentioned that the IPO Inbound Officer, Miss Shalom Ewenam Agborli, will help them make their stay on campus as comfortable as possible. She wished them a fruitful stay in and around campus.

Present at the meeting were Mr. Harley Anane, Senior Assistant Registrar, SMD and Ms. Evelyn Safowaa, Senior Administrative Assistant at the International Programmes Office.
