Süleyman Toraşan, Lecturer and Research Lab Manager in the International Financial Management Programme at Nuertingen-Geislingen University (HfWU) in Germany called on the Dean of the International Programmes Office, Professor Daniel Duah on Thursday, July 6, 2023.
Nuertingen-Geislingen University (HfWU), situated on the outskirts of the Stuttgart region in proximity to the scenic landscape of the Swabian Alb, has developed over the past decades to a remarkable University of Applied Sciences. Founded in 1949 as a College for Agricultural Engineering, HfWU became a public University of Applied Sciences in 1972 and offers academic education to more than 5400 students today.
The purpose of his visit was to discuss possibilities for a close academic exchange (i.e. visiting Professorship or joint publications), double degree options for students and to present the original counter-signed MoU between HfWU and KNUST.
On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor and Management of the University, Prof. Duah welcomed him to KNUST. Prof. Duah gave a brief overview of KNUST and its collaborate State. He mentioned that KNUST has a student population of 86,459. Prof Duah noted that the three (3) key areas of collaboration for KNUST are student mobility, staff mobility and joint research. He further explained that KNUST offers double degree (2+2) and 3+1+1 options for students with her partners. He suggested that HfWU and KNUST explore the possibility of a Memorandum of Agreement on exchange for the double degree system.
Later, the IPO organized a tour of KNUST for Süleyman and Mr. Richard Owusu, an Alumnus of HfWU and Lead Facilitator of the MoU between the two institutions.
