A two member team from the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, Prof. Łukasz Stanek, a Professor of Architectural History and Prof. Anya Sirota, an architectural designer, Associate Professor, Associate Dean of Academic Initiatives at Taubman College and founding principal of Akoaki both of the University of Michigan, USA have called on the Dean of the International Programmes Office, Prof. Daniel Y. A. Duah on June 19, 2023.
Following the recent signing of a memorandum of understanding between KNUST and the University of Michigan, USA, the Team were at KNUST to explore opportunities to engage in joint activities for the mutual benefit of both institutions.
Prof. Sirota indicated her delight at coming to KNUST and that they were interested in partnerships with Architecture, Planning and Painting and Sculpture programmes of the university.
On behalf of the Vice Chancellor and Management of the university, Prof. Duah welcomed the team to KNUST. He recalled the long relationship with the University of Michigan which included visits by Prof. Shafers to the Department of Architecture and that there has been periods of active and inactive relationships. He asked that both sides commit to ensuring a fruitful partnership. Prof. Duah highlighted the strides made in the past few years at KNUST making it a leading science and technology university in the world and being adjudged the best university in the world by the Times Higher Education for 2023 for the Sustainable Development Goal 4.
At the meeting was Mrs. Yvonne Baiden, Assistant Registrar at the International Programmes Office. Later, the Team interacted with staff and leadership at the College of Art and Built Environment, Departments of Architecture, Planning, and Painting and Sculpture.
