Team from Technical University of Berlin, Germany Calls on Dean of International Programmes Office

A group of postgraduate students from the Technische Universität Berlin (Technical University of Berlin), Germany paid a courtesy call on the Dean of the International Programmes Office, Prof. Daniel Y.A. Duah, on August 21, 2023.

The students are Claudia Wadtke, Helena Kettern and Nico Marquadt, all from the Berlin School of Public Health; Robert Neumann (University Hospital, Bonn); and Lisa Wadep (Uniklinikum, Bonn).

The purpose of their visit is to undertake exchange programmes for two (2) weeks from 13th to 25th August, 2023. In the first week, the students participated in a short course on “One Health Operationalisation’ organised by the German-West African Centre (G-WAC), a German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) funded project within KNUST and hosted by the College of Health Sciences.

According to Dr. Daniel Opoku, Lecturer at the Department of Health Policy, Management and Economics of the School of Public Health, KNUST and Academic Co-ordinator for G-WAC and the Co-ordinator for student exchange (Bonn and Berlin), the students are currently interning in G-WAC Research Groups in the areas of: Bacteriology and Parasitology, Virology and Medical Diagnostics, Zoonosis, Epidemiology and Surveillance, Health Systems and Economics, Digital Health and Community Engagement.

On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor and Management of the University, Prof. Duah welcomed them to KNUST, the best university in the world for SDG Goal 4, Quality Education, according to the Times Higher Education in 2023. He expressed his delight about their visit and wished them the very best in their stay on KNUST campus. He underscored the importance of partnership and networking and encouraged them to make the most of this opportunity.

Present at the meeting was Mrs. Yvonne Baiden, Assistant Registrar of the International Programmes Office.
