Delegation from University of Tsukuba, Japan Paid Courtesy Visit to Director of KNUST E-Learning Centre

As part of their working visit to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on Thursday, April 17, 2025, a delegation from the University of Tsukuba, Japan, visited the KNUST E-Learning Centre to explore opportunities for virtual academic collaboration.

The delegation comprised Assistant Professor Mizuho Fukushige, Vice-Director of the Bureau of Global Initiatives, and Professor Masao Ichikawa, a faculty member in Global Public Health at the Institute of Medicine. They were introduced by Professor Yeetey Enuameh, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, and Mr. Hayford Isaac Budu, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Nursing, both of KNUST.

The purpose of the visit was to initiate discussions on the possibility of co-developing and delivering mutual academic courses online, leveraging both institutions' strengths in digital education.

Professor Eric Appau Asante, Director of the KNUST E-Learning Centre, warmly received the delegation and shared insights into the Centre’s efforts in expanding the university’s virtual learning platforms. He highlighted the Centre’s collaboration with the International Programmes Office in promoting virtual mobility and enhancing transnational education.

The delegation was also introduced to the Centre’s state-of-the-art digital infrastructure, including facilities for live podcasting, interactive online teaching, and a virtual reality hub designed to enhance student learning experiences.

Also present at the meeting were Mrs. Abigail Dzama Anderson, Senior Assistant Registrar at the E-Learning Centre; Mrs. Yvonne Baiden, Senior Assistant Registrar at the International Programmes Office (IPO); Mr. Livingstone Agbenorxevi, Assistant Collaborations and Partnerships Officer at IPO; and Mr. Attah-Nyame Essampong, Visibility and Communications Officer at IPO.
