Mrs. Millicent Clarke Met Vice Dean of IPO and WISTEM Leadership

On Monday, February 10, 2025, Mrs. Millicent Clarke, a retired Regional Head of HR for Standard Chartered Bank – Middle East, and member of the International Coaching Federation, paid a courtesy visit to Professor Esmeranda Manful, Vice Dean of of the International Programmes Office, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), and senior members of Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (WiSTEM). The WiSTEM delegation included Professor Mrs. Ibok Oduro, President of WiSTEM, Professor Mrs. Mercy Badu, and Dr. Mrs. Gifty Boakye Appiah.

Professor Esmeranda Manful warmly welcomed the distinguished guests and reaffirmed IPO’s unwavering commitment to fostering meaningful partnerships.

Mrs. Clarke shared that after a long time away from Ghana, she decided to return upon her retirement to give back to her community. She expressed her passion for women’s wellbeing and leadership, and mentioned her recent conversation with Professor Badu, who introduced her to WiSTEM.

Following an earlier visit last year, Mrs. Clarke had been invited by the a Dean of the IPO Prof. Daniel Duah to meet WiSTEMers, learn about the association, introduce herself to them and discuss plans for providing free mentorship training to WiSTEM members. She proposed training a specific cohort of members for a year, at no charge with approval from the leadership of WiSTEM.

Professor Mrs. Oduro highlighted WiSTEM’s initiatives, including career-focused webinars and the Girls’ Camp for high school students, which aligns closely with Mrs. Clarke’s advocacy for gender inclusivity. She expressed optimism about collaborating with Mrs. Clarke to empower more women to take on leadership roles in the future.

Also present at the meeting were Mrs. Yvonne Baiden, Senior Assistant Registrar, Miss Ernestine Oheneba Danso and Livingstone Agbenorxevi all of the IPO.
