Delegation from Governors State University, USA paid a courtesy visit to the Dean of the International Programmes Office

On Monday June 2, 2025, a delegation from Governors State University, Illinois, USA, paid a courtesy visit to Professor Daniel Duah, Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO) at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). The delegation comprised Dr. Corey S. Bradford Sr., Interim President of the University; Paul McGuinness, Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management; and Dr. Robert Morley, Director of the Office of International Services.

The delegation expressed their appreciation for the warm hospitality extended to them by the IPO. Dr. Bradford noted that the university has been engaging with Ghana for several years as part of its internationalization efforts. He highlighted their desire to deepen ties by expanding their collaboration to include KNUST and to establish new connections.

During the meeting, the delegation provided an overview of Governors State University, which has a student population of approximately 5,000, with around 14% being international students. They indicated that most international students show strong interest in STEM programs. Their visit to KNUST aimed to gain insights into the interests of KNUST students and to explore potential opportunities for student and faculty mobility between the two institutions.

Professor Daniel Duah warmly welcomed the delegation and delivered a comprehensive overview of KNUST, outlining its six colleges, faculties, and various departments. He underscored the significance of international partnerships in helping KNUST realize its vision of becoming a top-tier university in Africa. Professor Duah noted the successes of existing collaborations with North American institutions and expressed confidence that this new relationship with Governors State University would also thrive. He assured the delegation of his support in facilitating engagements with relevant faculty heads for further discussions.

Also present at the meeting were Mrs. Yvonne Baiden, Senior Assistant Registrar; Miss Ernestine Oheneba Danso, Collaborations and Partnerships Officer; Mr. Livingstone Agbenorxevi, Assistant Collaborations and Partnerships Officer; and Mr. Attah-Nyame Essampong, Visibility and Communications Officer – all of the IPO.
