On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, a two-member delegation from the Association of Francophone Students (AFS) at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST)—Mr. Ivan Wilfred Ziehi, President, and Mr. Jean Ange Emmanuel Adou, Vice President—paid a courtesy visit to Professor Daniel Y. A. Duah, Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO).

Mr. Ziehi began by expressing gratitude for the continuous support the IPO provides to international students. He explained that the purpose of their visit was to share AFS’s strategic plans and seek the Office’s guidance and support in order to deepen engagement with the IPO.

Among their upcoming initiatives, he highlighted two major events scheduled before the end of this academic year: an entrepreneurial event aimed at equipping members with relevant business skills, and a homecoming event that will reunite AFS alumni. He noted that the team hopes to secure sponsorship and raise funds to execute these programmes successfully.

In addition, Mr. Ziehi shared AFS’s broader vision to expand its impact by mentoring francophone student groups at other tertiary institutions, including Kumasi Technical University (KsTU), Wisconsin International University College, and the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), with the goal of helping them develop vibrant and sustainable associations. He emphasized the need for IPO’s support in achieving these objectives.

Professor Daniel Duah warmly welcomed the team and commended their vision and thoughtful initiatives. He reaffirmed the IPO’s commitment to supporting their plans and emphasised the importance of entrepreneurial training in fostering job creation. He provided strategic advice for planning both events and suggested that the homecoming be scheduled for the next academic year to allow adequate time for fundraising and logistical preparations.

Prof. Duah also advised the team to establish strong structures that other emerging associations can emulate and encouraged them to start fundraising by exploring immediate and accessible opportunities before scaling up.

Also present at the meeting were Mrs. Yvonne Baiden, Senior Assistant Registrar; Ms. Ernestine Oheneba Danso, Collaborations and Partnerships Officer; and Mr. Attah-Nyame Essampog, Visibility and Communications Officer, all from the International Programmes Office.
