KNUST signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tulane University, USA

On Wednesday, July 9, 2025, a delegation from Tulane University, USA, visited the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mrs. Rita Akosua Dickson at Council Chamber of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to officially sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions.

The Tulane delegation was led by Dr. Thomas La Veist, Dean of the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, and included Professor Sudesh Srivastav and Dr. Samuel Kakraba.

Professor Peter Agyei-Baffour, Dean of KNUST’s School of Public Health, explained that the two schools have been engaging over the past year to establish this partnership. The visit, therefore, marks the formalization of their collaboration through the MoU signing. He also noted that the delegation would explore opportunities for broader collaboration across other faculties at KNUST.

Professor Dickson warmly welcomed the delegation and emphasized the University’s commitment to building strategic international partnerships as part of its mission to train globally competitive professionals. She further expressed excitement about the potential expansion of the partnership beyond the School of Public Health.

“We have travelled a long way to make this happen,” remarked Dr. La Veist, affirming Tulane University’s dedication to the success of the partnership.

Also present at the ceremony were Professor David Asamoah, Pro Vice-Chancellor; Mr. Andrews Boateng, Registrar; Professor Esmeranda Manful, Vice Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO); Mrs. Yvonne Baiden, Senior Assistant Registrar at IPO; faculty members from the School of Public Health; and representatives from the IPO and the University Relations Office.
