On Wednesday, December 03, 2025, a team from the Research, Education, Aid in Christ (REACH) Foundation, including three doctors from the United States, paid a courtesy call on the Management of the International Programmes Office (IPO). The visit formed part of ongoing engagements towards free minimal invasive surgeries and the donation of medical equipment worth over US$250,000 to the University Hospital.
In his introductory remarks, the Director of University Health Services, KNUST, Dr. Nana Kwame Ayisi-Boateng, highlighted the Foundation’s objectives, emphasizing its focus on delivering essential medical and surgical care while transferring knowledge, expertise, and medical equipment.
President of the REACH Foundation, Dr. Kofi Asare Bawuah, an alumnus of the School of Medicine and Dentistry, KNUST, explained that the organization, in its short two-year history, has demonstrated a commitment to long-term collaboration. He further explained that the initiative is designed to strengthen clinical capacity through a multi-layered training approach and to support efforts to streamline service delivery, thereby enhancing the overall healthcare system on campus.
Professor Ekuadzi, Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO), commended the initiative, noting that collaborations like this aligns with KNUST’s commitment to impactful partnerships that promote capacity building and community service. He remarked with particular pleasure, as the programme supports the University’s vision of training professionals who contribute meaningfully to the global community. He emphasized that although KNUST trains its professionals locally, the institution prepares them for the global village, where exposure, learning, and giving back form an essential cycle of growth.

The visit concluded with a shared commitment by both parties to ensure the project delivers long-term benefits to the University and contributes to improved healthcare outcomes.
