A team of three comprising of Sr. Felisa Liou, Associate Professor in Brand and Fashion Management; Po-Ling Wu, Assistant Professor and Director of Fashion Design Section of the Department of Fashion and Textiles and Amber Chih-Meng Li, a graduate student from the Department of Fashion and Textiles from Fu Shen Catholic University, Taiwan called in the Dean of the International Programmes Office, Prof. Daniel Duah, on July 5, 2023.
The purpose of their visit was to explore the establishment of collaborations between the two institutions, focusing on the College of Art and Built Environment and College of Fashion and Textiles in Fu Shen Catholic University. Specifically, the focus would be on Fashion and Textile Design of the Department of Industrial Art.
The International Programmes Office facilitated a comprehensive tour of the very green KNUST campus for the team and then coordinated visits to the Provost of the College of Art and Built Environment, and the Department of Industrial Art.
Sr. Prof. Liou explained that the Rector of her university had specifically requested that the team visits KNUST whilst on a trip to Ghana and explore potentials for collaboration. She indicated that they had been amazed by the sheer size and capacity of the university and the diversity of the programmes offered and the warmth of the people. She gave an overview of her university and spoke about all twelve colleges of the university, who run a two tier administrative system compared to KNUST’s three.
On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Duah welcomed the team to KNUST and the International Programmes Office and expressed delight at the satisfaction of the team with their experiences thus far. He added that the three focal areas for collaboration for KNUST are: Student Mobility, Staff Mobility, and Joint Research. He requested that the discussions continue once the team returns to Taiwan so that the partnership can be concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding which will kickstart the relationship.
