South Dakota State University Students and Staff on Academic Exchange Received at University Hospital

A team of 13 students and 3 faculty from Nursing, Pre-Med, Pharmacy, and Dentistry programmes of South Dakota State University, USA have called on the KNUST Hospital Administrator, Mr. Ebenezer Baah Boateng on May 10, 2023.

Their objective is to do shadowing at the KNUST Hospital by focusing on consulting rooms and observational practice at the pharmacy, wards and the laboratories.

Leader of the team, Dr. Greg Heiberger, Associate Dean of Academics and Student Success, College of Natural Sciences, expressed delight at the opportunity return with a new team and to learn from KNUST whilst strengthening the existing partnership. He looked forward to an exciting couple of weeks. He presented some gifts comprising BP monitors, examination gloves, and batteries to the university hospital.

Prof. Duah explained the importance of partnerships and internationalization to the growth and development of universities. Recounting the visit of the Vice Chancellor to SDSU last year, he was happy for the university to receive the team from SDSU and looked forward to students and staff of KNUST visiting SDSU in a reciprocal exchange.

On behalf of the Director of health Services and Hospital management, Mr. Baah Boateng welcomed the team to the hospital and provided an overview of her operations. He assured the team that the hospital was ready to work with them for the duration of their stay. He was grateful for the gifts and indicated that it would be helpful in the operations of the hospital.

Present were Ms. Diana Appiah (Matron), Dr. Emmanuel Sarkodie (Pharmacy Superintendent), Dr. Ebenezer Asamoah-Nyarko (Head of Operations, Pharmacy), Ms. Dufie Amoateng (Head of Environment) and Mrs. Yvonne Baiden, Assistant Registrar at the International Programmes Office.
