A team from the Indiana University, USA has called on the Dean of the International Programmes Office, Prof. Daniel Duah on May 15, 2023. The team included Prof. Hilary E. Kahn, Associate Vice Chancellor for International Affairs at IUPUI and Indiana University Associate Vice President of International Affairs as well as Associate Professor of Anthropology and Mr. Alexander Batten, Executive Director, Global Gateway Network.
Indiana University is a public research university located in Bloomington, USA and other multi locations. With over 90,000 students and being ranked the top 10 universities in the Sustainable Development Goals, it is one of the largest universities in USA.
The team was at KNUST to explore collaboration opportunities by engaging with teams from four Colleges of KNUST and the possibility of establishing a Gateway center.
On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor and Management of the University, Prof. Duah welcomed the team to KNUST, a leading science and technology university in Africa. He gave a brief overview of the university and her internationalization goals.
Discussions were focused on building a strong partnership and collaboration between the two universities. Staff and student exchanges as well as joint interdisciplinary research were also discussed.
The visit was facilitated by Prof. George Meyiri Bob-Milliar from the Department of History and Political Studies and Director of the Centre for Cultural and African Studies.
Present at the meeting were Mrs. Yvonne Baiden, Assistant Registrar and Miss Shalom Agborli, Inbound Officer, both staff from the International Programmes Office.
Later the team toured our beautiful and green campus and then visited the Colleges of Humanities and Social Science, Science, Art and Built Environment, and Health Sciences. At the debriefing meeting later, Prof. Khan was excited about the prospects and looked forward to moving the discussions to the next level.
