Simon Pfluger of The Technical University of Munich, Germany Call on Dean of International Programmes Office

On May 31, 2023, Simon Pfluger, a postgraduate student from the Technical University of Munich (TUM), Germany, called on the Dean of the International Programmes Office, Prof. Daniel Duah, over the collaboration between Burkina Institute of Technology (BiT) and KNUST and to announce his departure following a successful semester exchange at KNUST.

Discussions focused on further possibilities for collaboration, especially in areas of faculty mobility where KNUST is joining other partners to apply for the Mobility for Greener Entrepreneurship and Innovation for West Africa (MoGEDEIA). Prof. Duah indicated that this partnership would enhance intra Africa engagement and looked forward to further engagement with leadership of BIT.

Simon was enrolled in the MPhil programme in Renewable Energy Technologies at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, KNUST in January 2023. Simon indicated that this would be his third exchange experience following stays in Brazil and Burkina Faso and that he would rank KNUST as his best experience so far.

In terms of academics, he noted that he had an amazing experience with well-organized and intriguing lectures. Simon acknowledged the staff of IPO for their positive personal interactions with students. He also mentioned that the Dean was always available and easy to approach. Simon saw KNUST as a welcoming atmosphere where he made new friends and colleagues not only from Ghana but other African countries to help him with his studies and social activities. He also admired Ghanaian and African culture in general and mentioned that Red Red was his favorite meal.

Prof. Duah was thrilled with Simon's great experience at KNUST. He indicated that Simon is now a KNUST ambassador and that he is always welcome to the university. On behalf of the Vice Chancellor, he congratulated Simon for successfully completing his studies and working to create new partnerships between KNUST and African partners.
