Dr. Felix Deku of Oregon State University, USA Call on the Dean of International Programmes Office

Dr. Felix Deku, an Assistant Professor of Neuroengineering at the Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact at the Oregon State University, USA called on the Dean of the International Programmes Office, Professor Daniel Y. A. Duah on Monday July 17, 2023.

Oregon State University was founded more than 150 years ago as a land grant institution, building on the idea that everybody deserves an extraordinary education that’s attainable and accessible. Oregon State University draws people from all 50 states and more than 100 countries to a welcoming community that supports success, well-being and belonging for all.

The purpose of the visit was to introduce Oregon State University to KNUST and its current programme being run for students, as well as possible collaboration between the two Universities.

On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor and Management of the University, Prof. Duah welcomed Dr. Deku to KNUST. He was delighted about the visit and stressed the importance of collaboration between higher education institutions. He stated that KNUST has been ranked the best in the world for SDG 4, Quality Education by the Times Higher Education for 2023.

Prof. Duah mentioned that KNUST has over 400 MoU of which 200 are active. He added that KNUST has a student population of 86,459 and a very beautiful, green, and vibrant campus. He noted that the three (3) focal areas of collaboration for KNUST are student mobility, staff mobility and joint research. He added that the first cohort of doctoral candidates from KNUST on the TUM Africa Talent arrived at KNUST last week having completed a 3-month exchange programme. He looked forward to exploring the potential for collaboration by connecting respective units of KNUST to Oregon State University, USA.

Present at the meeting were Dr. Griffith Selorm Klogo, Senior Lecturer, Department of Computer Engineering and Ms. Evelyn Safowaa, Senior Administrative Assistant of the International Programmes Office.
