Two exchange students; Georgi Kostoikev, undergraduate student in Pharmacology and Physiology and Riah Wellington, an undergraduate student in Biomedical Science at the University of Westminster, UK called on the Dean of the International Programmes Office, Prof. Daniel Y. A. Duah on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at the IPO.
Following the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two universities, the students arrived on KNUST campus on Thursday July 20, 2023 for a six week exchange programme at the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences under the supervision of Dr Lillian Antwi Boateng. They are currently rotating through the histopathology and haematology labs of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
Georgi has had the opportunity to visit two Departments at KATH. He spent 2 weeks in the Department of Haematology and is in his 3rd week in the department of Histopathology. Riah is working in the Department of Haematology as well and has had the opportunity to assist in autopsies.
On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor and Management of the University, Prof. Duah welcomed them to KNUST. He expressed his excitement about the visit, and the importance of global collaboration and relationships. He mentioned that KNUST has a student population of 89,047 and a very beautiful and vibrant campus with 6 colleges. The Dean then engaged them on safe campus lifestyle. He also encouraged them to make friends and create long lasting networks as they focus on studies.
At the meeting was Ms. Theresa Joy Kamassah, officer in charge of Partnerships and Collaboration of the International Programmes Office.
