A HEART OF GRATITUDE

As I spend my last day as Dean of the International Programmes Office of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, I am filled with extreme gratitude first to the Lord almighty for this opportunity, for His grace and direction throughout my tenure, and for seeing me through this very successful tenure, without whom, I am nothing.

I appreciate exceeding support from diverse persons in what we were able to achieve together.

Next, words cannot express fully the appreciation I have for the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mrs. Rita Akosua Dickson, for recognizing my abilities and giving me the opportunity to serve in such a high office. It was such a totally pleasant surprise to have received my letter of appointment to this role. I have received immense support, guidance, direction, and correction from her and she has definitely made me a better person than I was when I started this role. This role has given me such immense leadership skills development and exposure I could not have imagined including having audience with Pope Leo on my last day of work as Dean of IPO. God bless you greatly, Mummy 🙏🏾

My heart is full of gratitude for the extreme support, encouragement and advice I received from the former and current Pro Vice Chancellors of our University, Prof. Ellis Owusu Dabo and Prof. David Asamoah. God bless you both greatly.

I would like to thank Vice Dean, Prof. Esmeranda Manful for being such a great partner in the execution of this mandate. Right from the very challenging beginning of our tenure, she has been with me and greatly supported in helping us achieve together.

I also like to appreciate the two Senior Assistant Registrars, Mrs. Gladys Addai and Mrs. Yvonne Baiden, who ably supported me with their unique strengths throughout the period. God bless you both greatly.

I am immensely grateful to all the staff and Board members of the IPO, both present and the past, especially Mrs. Evelyn Safowaa Asante, Miss. Ernestine Oheneba Danso, Mr. Samuel Kwasi Okyere, and Mr. Peter Awarija for their tireless efforts and dedication to the work. I appreciate greatly all our national service persons over the years who have been very instrumental in a lot of the things we achieved together.

I am grateful to the former Registrar of the university, Mr. Andrew Kwasi Boateng and former Finance Officer, Mr. Yaw Nimo Baffour, for their advice, encouragement, and guidance. Their successors, Mr. Benjamin Boampong Owusu and Dr. Charles Nsiah respectively, have continued this amazing support and I am really grateful.

I am very grateful to all Provosts, Directors, Deans, Heads and leaders of all Units in our great institution for working together extremely well to achieve the goals of our Office.

I would like to recognise the

excellent working relationship with my colleagues at the Office of the Vice Chancellor who supported our work and ensured a seamless coordination of our activities involving the Vice Chancellor. A special thanks goes to Ms. Efua Arku, the Chief of Staff of the Vice Chancellor for her amazing support, advice, and great working spirit right from the beginning of my tenure as well as Mr. Alfred Nti and his team at the VC’s Documentation Office.

Next, special appreciation goes to Prof. Su Zibo, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute and the team at the Institute for the amazing partnership and friendship.

I appreciate greatly the wonderful working relationship we expanded and created with the embassies of Germany, France, United States of America, Italy, China and many more. You have supported my team and I to drive the internationalization agenda of KNUST. A special thanks goes to our friends at ACE Consult, EducationUSA Kumasi and American Corner.

I appreciate greatly one of our deepest partners, the Technical University of Munich and the deep friendship, love, and motherly care I received from Professor Dr. Julianne Winkelmann, Senior Vice President for Global Affairs and Alumni Relations at TUM.

I appreciate the Otumfuor Osei Tutu Foundation under the leadership of Nana Prof. Hiahene and his team at the Secretariat as well as Mrs. Mercy Bruce Amanquah and her team from the Francis Faki Amanquah Foundation for supporting the lady scholars studying Computer Science and Computer Engineering at KNUST.

I am deeply to the former and current Directors of Directorateof Student Affairs, Prof. Wilson Agyei Agyare and Prof. Marian Asantewah Nkansah for being great people to work with in our collective quest to drive our mandate. They were greatly assisted by hard working Registrars and a very good team. I am also very grateful to all our student unions and leaders including the SRC, NUGS, ISA, UNSA and many more for our partnership in delivering on the internationalization agenda of KNUST.

I am extremely grateful to certain individuals and groups who supported me greatly in the discharge of my duties and these include Prof. John T. Bugri, Prof. Alexander Boakye Marful, Prof. Samuel Asare Nkansah and the team at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Prof. Samuel Amos-Abanyie, Prof. Titus Ebenezer Kwofie, Prof. Eric Appau Asante and team at the E Learning Center, Prof. Philip Antwi Agyei and his team at OGR, Dr. Henry Martin, Prof. Vincent Logah, Dr. Jimmy Nkrumah and the team at the Directorate of Works and Physical Development, Mr. Michael Afrifa and Team at UPK, Mr. Isaac Berko and the team at the Legal Office, Prof. Jerry John Kponyo and team at the QAPO, Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe and team at the URO, Mr. James Kwasi Oberko and team at the AARO, Dr. (Mrs.) Esi Amos Abanyie and all our cherished caterers, Rev. Last but certainly not least, to an amazing wife, mother, and my best friend, Mrs. Ama Serwaa Bonsu Duah, you have been my strength, support and biggest cheerleader and I bless God for your life each day. To my children and family as well as my spiritual family, God bless you all greatly.
